Péter ez utóbbival is rendelkezik, amit jól mutat, hogy a nyomtatásban megjelent cikket lefordította angolra. Az abban vázolt módszerének illusztrálására ezt rendelkezésünkre bocsátotta. Since the early days, when I started learning the English language, I have had the intention to get a certificate, but  it was only 3 months ago  when I decided to risk even more and try to take the Advanced level exam. Why would I do such a thing? I realized that the tasks for the Intermediate level do not challenge my mind and without that I would not feel that I accomplished anything

How did I get there you might ask? My main source of “learning” was the Internet. I watch videos about a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: history, psychology, Hollywood, philosophy and things even hard to  try to categorize. Just to give you a couple of examples here are some links: Crash Course, Vsauce, Jeremy Jahns, Idea Channel, Escapist Movie.

These are especially helpful because they usually visually represent at least the meaning of the mentioned words and ideas (except for Jeremy), helping you to get a better grip on what they are talking about, even if you might not know every phrase.

For those who wish to follow my path I can give some advice: Find something you are interested in and are familiar with in Hungarian and then search for sources about that in English. It can even be the simplest thing you get enjoyment from, I guarantee it to you. Over time you will find yourself not even thinking about  translation but your brain will process the unknown instantaneously. With this method you won’t think about learning as work but you will associate it with something like watching television and although you won’t be a genius from one day to another (not like I am), but with time you will notice your “work” has positive effects. I have been learning  this way since mid 2012, and it was complemented with additional English lessons by Mr László Molnár and Ms. Edit Malatyinszki  during the technician year. Their help and my “special” technique together meant that I was ready for the challenge I had to overcome during the examination.

Mióta angolt tanulok, készültem arra, hogy nyelvvizsgát tegyek, de csak három hónapja döntöttem el, hogy megpróbálkozom a felsőfokúval. Azt tapasztaltam ugyanis, hogy a középfokú nyelvvizsga feladatai már nem jelentenek kihívást számomra.

Hogy hogyan jutottam el idáig? A tanulás fő forrását az internet jelenti számomra. Videókat szoktam nézni különböző témakörökben: történelemmel, pszichológiával, földrajzzal kapcsolatosakat. A youtube-on például sok hasznos videót találhatunk, ha rákeresünk a Crash Course címszóra. Ezek azért is jelentenek nagy segítséget, mert az ismeretlen kifejezéseket felugró ablakban megmagyarázzák.

Aki nyelvvizsgára készül, annak azt tanácsolnám, hogy olyan témákban keresgéljen idegen nyelven forrásokat, amikben már jártas, így szinte ragadni fognak rá az új kifejezések, sikerélményt nyújt a nyelvvel való foglalkozás. Persze, ezzel a módszerrel sem lehet egyik napról a másikra nyelvzsenivé válni, de megéri a befektetett munka. Én két éve foglalkozom ebben a formában az angollal, ehhez társult a technikusi év elején az iskola által indított nyelvi program Molnár László tanár úr és Malatyinszki Edit tanárnő vezényletével, akik főképp a már megszerzett tudás rendszerezésével és kiegészítésével segítettek nagyon sokat.
