Vízműsök in Europe
For the academic year 2024-2025, our school will again have the opportunity to implement an Erasmus+ VET Short-term Mobility project (KA122-VET) through its foundation. 6 teacher and 18 students in year 12 or 13, 4 of the 5 disciplines taught at the school, civil engineering, water engineering, environmental protection and surveying technicians, can participate in Erasmus+ with funding from the European Union. The applicant, the Vásárhelyi Pál Foundation of Békéscsaba, supports the professional and foreign language development of the students and teachers of our school through the programme.
From ninth to 16th November 2024, 6 teachers from our technical school will participate in a professional visit to Córdoba, Spain, to improve their knowledge in the field of structural engineering. The mobility will include the visit of local architectural offices; UNESCO heritage listed buildings and architectural works, as well as the visit of teachers and students of the IES SENECA grammar school and vocational school in Córdoba, and the review and familiarisation of the local training of structural engineering technicians.
The group spent the first two days in Malaga, where they visited the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro castles, as well as the Catedral La Manquita, Europe's third largest church.
From Monday, they are taking part in a professional programme organised by Training Europe in Córdoba. During his visit to INGEDECA, the company's founder, Jose Manuel Jiménez, presented the company's wide range of activities, including the design and construction of monuments, roads, bridges, residential and office buildings. The instructors gave a thorough demonstration of everything from the use of environmentally friendly materials to the use of glass surfaces to make the building energy efficient, on the construction site of a university study class designed by INGEDECA.
In Palma del Rio, Carlos Jesus, owner of CTE-ARQUITECTOS, presented the buildings designed by the company. Over two days, the participants first visited modern buildings and designs that are in keeping with today's standards, and then the group had a look at the reconstruction of a historic building, the 500-year-old local convent, and its current functions. As a special attraction, they also visited a museum in a ruined building that had been restored to a museum dedicated to the local celebrity Manuel Benítez Rérez, known as El Cordobés the bullfighter. Here, Carlos Jesus drew attention to the building's drainage and support.
On Thursday, the group was waited by the local teachers and student at the IES SENECA secondary school. The school's director, Rafael Carlos Molina Valiente, and his deputy, Maria del Campo Relaño Olmo, gave a presentation on the school's history and talked about the current courses. The library of this institution, which has a history of more than 100 years, houses priceless books, school diaries and memories of famous local students. Educational materials from the time, religious books and visual aids took colleagues back in time.
Thanks to modern technology, Spanish and Hungarian students from the field of structural engineering participated in a joint online class during the morning. Our school is involved in the development of the KA2-VET, Building Technology Animated For Language Learning (BuildingVids) online textbook, and the visit was a great opportunity to test a lesson from the online textbook. The technical conditions were provided with the help of the Békéscsaba Vocational Training Centre. Krisztina Makra, English language teacher, led the lesson and the Spanish students were involved. After watching a video clip showing the development of masonry elements, the students individually solved online exercises. The online learning material was a great success, with students continuing to look at the options, glossary and exercises even after the lesson was over.
On Friday, teachers will visit buildings and architecture on Cordoba's UNESCO heritage list, such as the Roman Bridge, the Mezquita Muslim Cathedral, the Alcazar fortress and its beautiful park.
The ENDESA S.A. wind turbine plant had to be cancelled from the planned programme due to the extreme weather phenomenon DANA, which hit Malaga and the surrounding area again, sweeping through the province of Andalusia in a day with heavy rain and wind.
The teachers' foreign-language and professional skills and their professional commitment is improving, new professional contacts are made, teachers are being recharged and they will be able to pass on their new knowledge to their colleagues and students.
